Learning with Pete the Cat!

We read lots of books about cats this week, but our favorites were all about that cool blue cat Pete! On Thursday, all of our activities were in honor of that rockin' cat and his groovy shoes.

We listened to the audio recording of Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes by Eric Litwin while we followed along in the book.

In the story, Pete stepped in all sorts of things that changed the color of his white shoes. We used watercolor paint to add color to some white shoeprints and white shoelaces. When dry, we can use these to practice our lacing and tying skills.

On Wednesday, we cut out and glued together our own Pete the Cats. After drying overnight, they were ready on Thursday for some groovy shoes. We also cut out some mixed up word cards and put them together to make a sentence.

Earlier in the week...

We used trays of colored sand on the light box to practice writing letters and numbers:

Cc is for cat and corn! We had something new in the sensory table this week: dried corn to be shucked  off the cobs for our animals.

We also enjoyed some buddy reading of our class made books, using stencils, and practicing our counting with clip cards:

Last, but not least, we had our first trip to the library for story time! We did a great job walking two by two, listening, singing and behaving wonderfully for the librarian.
