What a Wonderful World!

Earth Day was this week, and we learned a lot about our world! Animals are of huge interest to all the kids, so we used The Umbrella and The Water Hole as springboards into talking about how different kinds of animals all over the world need clean air, water and natural places to live. We talked about all the things we can do to keep our planet healthy- not littering, recycling, and not wasting the things we use to avoid making lots of trash. For little kids, they had lots of big ideas! We also read our weekly magazine about trash, and giggled our way through the ABC book I Stink!

We also made our own little Earth with green and blue painters, and attached them to an Earth Day reader.

We made leafy umbrellas like in the story The Umbrella (and reviewed the letter Uu) and used animal cards to follow along as Ms. Heather read the book. Look in the daily folder- there is a story summary and our story props to try this at home too!

Our sensory bin changed over this week from a garden to a beach!

And, we had another friend celebrate the big 5-> Happy Birthday!
