Nature Walking!

We read the book Leaf Man  in class, and loved how so many creatures and scenes could be created just using leaves, sticks and other odds and ends in nature. So, Wednesday we headed outside on a nature walk to find interesting art materials to use in our own creations. From fuzzy seed balls to pine needles, sticks and leaves, there was something awesome everywhere we looked!








We also used some science equipment to take a closer looks at natural materials. Magnifiers, scales, and our own eyes and fingers told us lots about corn, wheat, gourds, hay, moss (sterilized), tree ring slices, and seeds.





Friday, we took all out leaves from homework and the nature walk leftovers and sorted by size together. Then at centers, we used the leaves to make crayon rubbings.


Whenever the kids work hard together to build something, they want me to take a picture. So, here is the creation of the week, along with some Mayflower fun:
