Christmas Trees and Reindeer Games!

Yesterday, our Let's Find Out magazine was a reader about evergreen trees. We learned several facts, including that some evergreen trees make pinecones. For one of our centers, we made pinecone snacks using cream cheese, chocolate, cereal and pretzel sticks. They looked just like real pinecones, but tasted MUCH better!

Today, we were very excited about our Christmas party! In order to get rid of a little energy, we headed over to the play field to play some reindeer games. We had a great time with the back and forth sliders (takes LOTS of cooperation to make them work!), hula hoops and playballs.

After working out lots of our wiggles, we came in to a yummy party lunch provided by our parents. After eating our fill, we got to work on another tree project- Christmas tree cones! We spread icing all over ice cream cones, and used different candy ornaments to decorate our trees.

Everyone had a great time- thank you so much to all our wonderful parents for our party fun!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

After our sleigh ride on Monday, we got down to the "serious" business of Christmas! We spent quite a bit of time this week talking about the birth of Jesus as we learned about the letter Jj and the first Christmas. We also made several ornaments to decorate our bulletin boards. A particularly fun time was spent looking through the avalanche of toy catalogs that arrive at this time of year, in order to get some ideas for our class letter to Santa we'll write in a few days. Some of us were so excited about what we found that we had to cut out the picture from the catalog and stick it in our pocket so we would remember. :) On Friday, Pastor Andy came and shared the Christmas story with us, and WE shared all we have learned with him!
