Shapes, Hh and Writing

We talked about the letter Hh this week, along with reviewing some shapes and working on our writing. We built a neighborhood with our shape houses, and made sure each house had a number. We also did a lot of cutting as we created our house collage with magazine pictures showing things found both inside and outside the house.

We had a great time using cornmeal trays to practice our writing letters and numbers on Thursday. If we made a mistake, it was easy to give the tray a little shake and try again. Also, it felt good to slide our fingers or brushes through the cornmeal. When we were done, we learned all about two classroom tools: the hand brooms and the dust pans!

Ms. Hillary came to visit us last week for our first Spanish class! We had fun learning how to say some different words and sing a few songs in Spanish. Another first- for those that chose to try- was taking bites out of whole apples. Some of us like the bites, and some prefer slices. We'll find out a lot more about our apple preferences next week during Apple Week.

We had a few more rainy days this week that kept us off the soggy playground. A lively game of shape identification musical chairs kept us moving and grooving (and learning, too)!
