Pajama Day!

This past Friday was our annual Pajama Day!

To get ready, we spent some time this week with the letter Qq for Quilt. We also wrote a new book! Each page has a sleeping student (complete with bed head!) snuggled under a quilt, dreaming a happy dream.

On Friday, we all came into school wearing comfy PJs, and carrying blankets and stuffed babies. After voting on a movie, and getting all the popcorn popped, we snuggled in for a morning movie showing of Aladdin.

Polar Fun!

We had some icy good times the week of January 14 to 18!

We made interactive polar bear books to work on positional words like over, under, next to, beneath, etc.

We used styrofoam pieces, shaving cream, and glue to construct fluffy polar bear dens.

In addition to our polar reading, we also read a bunch of fairy tales featuring dragons, princes and princesses. We had a small snowy world center where the dragons and people played together in the snow!

Polar Paintings! We stuck a wet polar bear cutout on some art paper, and filled the white space with different shades of fluffy blue and white paint. Afterwards, we peeled off the polar bear cutout to see a white bear walking in the frosty blue.

Ice is Nice! Friday was Ice Day. Several bins were filled with large and small ice blocks and cubes for  sensory play. We added people, animals, tongs, trucks and lots of gloves and mittens for a wintry day.

Frozen paint cubes were a fun new way to create!

When we needed to warm up, we grabbed a book, a stuffed baby and a friend to hang out in our own igloo.

Polar bear snacks ended our week!
