The Power of 10!

This week we finished up our 10 shapes, each with a set of 10 stickers. We can all count to 10, and we are pretty good at reading all the numerals (although 6 and 9 can be tricky), but the real challenge is making sets of 10 and knowing when to stop. It's so easy to keep making more glue dots, and attaching more and more stickers! So we've practiced and practiced until we have all 100 of our stickers grouped into sets of 10, and reviewed all our shapes along the way. We also have been exercising in sets of 10! We've been doing sets of jumps, stomps, twists, stretch ups, zombie arms, head rolls, jumping jacks, knee bends, toe touches, and high kicks as we count the days.

Once we are absolutely positive we have a set of ten (on our shapes or on our hands), we learned that it is ok to count by 10s instead of 1,2,3.... It's fun and fast! Friday, we got out all our sets and put them on our superhero capes so we can be 100 Day Heroes on 100th Day next week. We also made some superhero shields with 100. We can't wait until the big day!

On Tuesday, we had a another community helper come to visit us! The dentist told us all about how to protect our teeth and keep them clean. We listened to a story, talked about good dental hygiene, sorted out foods that are good/bad for our teeth, and practiced brushing with a dragon. Thank you so much to Dogwood Dental for coming out to see us. We love our goody bags, and can't wait to try out our new toothbrushes!

Other fun centers and activities throughout the week were reading about animals teeth, making beautiful heart tree placemats, building letters and other creations with legos and letter builders, making gifts for for Valentine's Day and Donuts with Daddy, cooperative play with superheroes and patterns and sets with the light box jewels. Being busy with our friends is the best way to learn!
