Apples Everywhere!

Fall is coming this week, and to celebrate we learned all about APPLES!

At circle times, we talked about the letter Aa, learned about apple parts, watched a quick video about the many kinds of apples, read apple books and counted lots and lots of apples!

How many apples up on top?
We carefully counted and compared numbers using the words more, less and same.

We had a tricky listening center this week! Using a page of many apple pictures, we tried to listen very carefully to follow directions such as "color just the apple basket brown" or "color the sun yellow".

We enjoyed a Let's Find Out magazine about apples this week in a reading center!

We practiced writing some Aa's at a morning table job.

Aa isn't just for apples! We also built and turned a big A into an alligator.

We also had centers creating with the zootles, potato heads, cooking in the play kitchen, and made sticker books.

More Apple Math!

We learned about the numerals 0-5, and put them in order.
Then we added wiggly worms to match the numbers!

My favorite authors put together another book this week, and it is a counting book! We each picked a number, and created a page. This book will be going in our classroom library to read and enjoy all year.

Apple Art!
Using apple colors, we painted at the easels.

We made apple prints:

and we gave our fingers a workout by tearing paper into little pieces and creating torn paper apple trees! Our orchard of apple trees is decorating our class bulletin board.

You can't spend the week learning about apples without EATING lots of apples! There are so many apple foods to try, and we can eat them so many ways: with our fingers, a fork, a cup, a spoon, using a knife, hot or cold! We tried out different kinds of apple slices, and made a graph of our favorites. We practiced using the plastic knives to carefully spread apple jelly on crackers. We drank apple cider, and thought it was awesome! Thursday we had yummy applesauce, and Friday we worked together to make a delicious cinnamon apple crisp. That peeler machine was a fun workout!

Apple Crisp feelings chart: Most of us loved it, a few thought we could do better! 😀
Thank you so much for sending in all our apples so we could eat, play and learn with them this week!
