More Winter Fun!

We had another fun learning week!

Every morning we start out with some table toys and a quick job. Lately, we've been practicing or handwriting on long strips of adding machine paper. Don't throw out any old rolls you come across at home- send them to school! This long skinny paper is great for keeping our letter size under control and in a horizontal line. Also, it is just so much more fun- and much less intimidating- to practice 6-8 letters each as a group job than individually on our own paper. 😀

Our polar animal adventures continued with polar bears. We learned about hibernation, and had a messy good time building polar bear dens out of styrofoam, shaving cream and glue.

We made a polar bear book about those super important positional words. On, in , between, under, over-> all those words make a big difference in deciphering meaning and when following directions for a task.

We continued our learning with a following directions activity gluing noodle bears on beds based on teacher read instructions using all those positional words.

Qq is for QUILT!

Business is still booming at our ice cream shop for our cooperative play rug center. We have also been working on new letters at the matching board and enjoying our winter books at this time.

It's a new year! We are continuing to add pages to our yearlong scrapbooks, and worked on a page for January this week.

It's cold and flu season! Our class has been pretty lucky so far with the germs. Just in case, though, it seemed like a good idea to get the shaving cream out on Thursday and give those polar animal toys we love (and our hands and the tables) a thorough cleaning. After a final rinse, our tables and toys (and hands) were sparkling clean!

Sharing time! We've started sending home our sharing bags with 2 students several times during the week. It is so much fun to see what each person brings and hear all about our special things.

Pajama Day!

Friday we all came to school in our jammies! It was a cozy day spent watching movies, eating popcorn and cuddling up on our blankets.
