Dr. Seuss Week- Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Wednesday was, of course, all about Dr. Seuss' book Wacky Wednesday! It was so exciting to see what wacky combinations of mixed up clothes our friends wore. Some of us had wacky hair, wacky feet, and we all practiced making wacky faces. Our morning work was to unscramble our names, then we started off the day by taking a quick nap. We read through the Wacky Wednesday book together at circle time, hunting for all the mistakes on each page. Then, we were off to our mixed up centers. Those giant feet that we fingerpainted on Monday got decorated into wacky wild feet, and we used our dry erase markers to circle wacky things in the Silly Pictures pages of Highlights magazine.

Thursday, we read Green Eggs and Ham! At centers, we worked on matching words from the story. Ms. Heather helped us to read the words, and we found the matches on the big story word boards. We also worked on gluing up the last pieces on our Cat in the Hat masks, so they would be ready for Hat Day on Friday. At snack, it was time for some cooking! We talked about ingredients, recipes and utensils, then stated wishing up some eggs, rice milk, and food coloring to make some green eggs. Ms. Heather got it all cooking on the grill with the ham while Mrs. Horton (who else could do it?) read us Horton Hatches an Egg. Some of us weren't too sure about eating our creation for snack, but as you can see from our graph, the majority considered it YUMMY!

We wrapped up the week with the classic The Cat in the Hat on Friday. It was the perfect day for everyone to wear their favorite hats! We had started painting and cutting out pieces for some cat masks earlier in the week- these were ready to go home for the weekend. At centers, we cut out wild Thing 1 and 2 wigs and put recipe pieces from making green eggs and ham in sequential order. We wrapped up our week by voting on our favorite Dr. Seuss day and creating another class graph.
