Highlights from Week of October 6

We started off with some sight words this week- we are well on our way to being readers! We used our friend Pete the Cat and his shoes to help us out. As buddy readers, we worked in partners to build a sentence using sight words, color words and and rebus (picture + word) cards. A monster finger helped us point to the word we said, and kept us on track.

We took all those words from the pocket chart, and added them to our Pete the Cat at center time!

Ms. Meredith was with us this week, and led a fun game of letter, shape, and number BINGO for one of our learning centers.

We love the light box! There were a variety of fall shapes and colors to sort, count and arrange.

We had several different activities for our rug centers this week. Trains were popular, as well as vet pretend play. We also made some glowing letters and numbers with our monster fingers in purple sand trays set on top of the light box.

Playdough turned into an ear, a tree, and even a chicken burrito!

We colored a page a day for a pet safety booklet. By the end of the week, we cut out the pages, and learned about page numbers to help us get it together in the correct order. Then we read them together as a class at circle time.

Big puzzles take a big group to work together!

Letter Builders! These lines and curves can be put together to make all kinds of letters and shapes.

We had some animal painters this week. Using scrapers shaped like animal arms, legs, hooves, and claws, we scraped through finger paint to make designs.

This week we finished up everyone's first turn to bring in the sharing bag. Now on to second turns!
