What we've been up to lately...

It's been a few days since updating the blog! Below are some highlights of what we have been up to lately:

We worked very hard on our counting sets 1-10 while making little books based on 10 Apples Up On Top, by Theo Le Sieg.  We also rolled a big set of foam dice and added apples on top of our pictures in the pocket chart. Lastly, we used real apples- including very tiny crab apples- to make apple prints for a class number book.

Our homework job last week was to find 3 Aa pictures to bring in for our class collage. A quick class poll showed that everyone thought homework was FUN! :)

We got in some writing practice at our free writing center (with pencils, stickers and paper) and at the teacher directed writing activity. We used an unsharpened pencil to practice writing our letters in cornmeal trays.

Lots of times our craft activities are semi structured, but it's good to take some time to free paint (and chat about our picture with a friend!)

Dd is for DOTS! Here we are using the magnet wand to move around dot chips in sensory bags.

One day our morning job was to fingerprint lots of sheets of paper red, blue and yellow. This was a favorite "job".

All that pretty painted paper was punched out into dots that we are using to create our own little books based on Press Here, by Herve Tullet. The original book was a big hit at circle time. I hope everyone has as much fun reading our little versions together at home!

A new month means we'll have a calendar making center. We did cute owls this month after reading about a grumpy owl in I'm Not Cute, by Jonathan Allen.

Teamwork!! We worked together to piece together a  1-20 number train.

Sometimes after we finish our center job, we have some time to play with the hand toys or the flannel boards.

We started sending home the sharing bags this week! Everybody is eager for a turn.

Dd is also for ducks! We made some adorable duck hats, and practiced building and writing Dd.

The most precious flock in town!
