BAM! The Letter Bb

We talked a lot about the letter Bb last week, in addition to working on color words and our St. Patrick's Day projects. At circle, we all pulled a different Beanie Baby out of a bag and listened for the initial sound for each type of animal. Then we had fun with the whole bag o' beanies at our cooperative learning center on the rug. At the tables, we colored Bb with some B colors- blue, black, and brown- and glued beads and buttons on top. Another activity was bracelet making with a variety of beads. We painted a color wheel on our parade props, which so far look like big beach balls. But, without a doubt, the most fun was had using BIG BRICK BLOCKS to BUILD, and using an even BIGGER wrecking BALL to knock them down !
That's a big bite!

Beanie Babies
First, we have to build with bricks. The boys made a huge single structure.

which was quickly knocked down!
So, our next groups made several smaller structures,
which are a lot harder to knock down all at once!

We had a BLAST figuring out the different angles and directions to swing our wrecking ball (and we got to practice lots of problem solving skills along the way)!
