Week of Feb. 5

All of our friends were back to start the week, and it was so FUN to have all 16 of us together again.

Our circle time books this week were mostly about either teeth or Valentine's Day. But, you might notice The Book With No Pictures hiding in there too- it's a runaway class favorite for teacher read aloud and book time on the rug.

Our room got some new decorations this week! Those robots worked on last Friday got hung up in the hall, and are so creative! The kids started with some metallic paper and miscellaneous spare parts, and used their imaginations to construct some very handy helpers.

The dentist came to visit us, and she brought along a dinosaur helper and the tooth fairy!! They taught us all about healthy teeth habits such as brushing, flossing, eating healthy foods and seeing the dentist for check ups.

We learned about healthy habits at centers too. We made a little reader about healthy teeth, and practiced our new word my on every page.

We read a silly story about a crocodile named Clarabella who had so many big teeth that it took her all day to brush them with her little toothbrush. Then we decided to help her out with those giant dirty teeth! We each took charge of getting 3 of her gigantic teeth clean with lots of scrubbing. Just like Clarabella's teeth, our teeth need to be thoroughly cleaned every day, especially those big teeth in the back where food can get stuck.

We even made some photo ready smiles!

Ms. Kathleen came for music, and we learned the bible story of David and Goliath.

February placemats- We cut out lots and lots of hearts!

Speaking of hearts, we used big and little hearts to create heart animals. Then we wrote a sentence about them using sight words and preprogrammed letter hearts. These adorable and imaginative critters are hanging on our inside bulletin board.

Check out the changes in our handwriting in just a few short months! We are putting together letter and word concepts, improving on spacing and legibility, and most importantly- internalizing that our writing has meaning and communicates to others. We are AMAZING!

We made some beautiful valentines this week (but no pictures of those yet- they are a surprise!). Here we are working on some giant envelopes for our cards.

Our door changed too, and is a sneak peak at the superhero fun and learning that is just around the corner!
