Week of February 23

We did a little bit of everything during the week of February 23! Since we were exploring the letter Vv, we focused on vegetables. Veggie painting was a big hit- we used peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and celery to make prints.

We also did some taste testing during the week! We tried carrots, cucumber, cauliflower and broccoli. Some of us liked everything, some of us liked one or two, and sometimes we found something that we thought tasted pretty bad. :) Everyone tried everything though, because how else will you know if you like it?? Even if we were sure we did not like something, we tried a tiny bite, because Ms. Heather reminded us that "Today could be the day it tastes great." Every day, we created a new bar graph based on our taste test, and talked about how many, more/ less, most and least.

Our class of authors also made a new book this week! We painted pictures of the sky, ground, and buildings as backgrounds for our superhero photos from 100th Day. Then we dictated to Ms. Heather about our special super powers. (Ignore the blurry call out shapes- names have been retouched out for privacy.)

Last, we ended the week with our annual Donuts with Dad breakfast. We have been working on a special camera for Dad- sanding, painting and writing at centers to get everything ready. We also painted some bright backgrounds for our all about Dad surveys. At breakfast, we showed the dads our classroom, spent some time drawing on the table paper and finished with a song. We had a wonderful time with our daddies (and daddy helpers) that came to visit!
