A Week with Dr. Seuss!

We spent all week learning with Dr. Seuss! Every day we read at least one of his books, and then went to play and learn at centers related to the book of the day.

Monday- The Foot Book

After reading, we talked about opposites and rhyming words. Then, we all took off a shoe and got to work measuring. How many "feet" tall are you?

We also started making our giant feet!

Tuesday- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

After reading this classic, we had some fun working on our letters while fishing! Then, we practiced sorting some fish crackers, and identified fishy numbers up to 20. Our play dough table had some fishy friends as well!

Wednesday- Wacky Wednesday!

We came to school on Wednesday dressed in our wacky best! At circle time, we found and unpainted a wacky mixed up alphabet. At centers, we added fur, toenails, and silly features to our giant feet, and also looked for all the wacky inconsistencies in some I Spy pictures.

Thursday- Green Eggs and Ham

We used this book to help us with some sight word matching- tricky! After stretching our brains, we got down to some cooking and made our own green eggs and ham.

FINALLY Friday- The Cat in the Hat

We wrapped up our week with The Cat in the Hat. We wore hats to school, finished our Cat in the Hat masks, practiced our cutting with Thing 1 and 2 wigs (and tried on our finished giant wacky feet), and had some book time with all the great Dr. Seuss books. We ended our day with a quick class poll of our favorite book.
