Pumpkin Pie

Friday was a fun day with friends as we made pumpkin pie with Ms. Hill and Buttercup's class! After our morning jobs and circle, we all headed over to Fellowship Hall to do our centers together. Our most important center was pie making. Other activities were stickers and drawing, legos, and cutting and pasting feast plates of food from grocery flyers. We had a great time playing and working with old and new friends!

After our centers, we headed out to the playground while our pies cooled. Then it was time to EAT!

Our Tt Party!

Today was all about the letter Tt! We had a wonderful time at our tea party center drinking tea and eating cinnamon toast. We talked about good table manners: saying "please pass the ___", keeping a napkin in our lap, and taking turns pouring warm tea in our cups, buttering toast and using tongs to add a sweet sugar cube. We even carefully washed and rinsed our cups ourselves so the next person had a fresh clean cup to use. Everyone was so careful pouring, using and washing the special dishes that we didn't even have one spill!
FYI- our tea was caffeine free herbal tea and sugar cubes were strictly rationed. :)

Our tea party wasn't the only fun! We also used the letter builders, made pilgrim collars for our Thanksgiving program, and played with the trains and track for the first time today. After practicing our program songs, we headed out to end our day in the cool sunshine on the playground.

Nature Walking!

We read the book Leaf Man  in class, and loved how so many creatures and scenes could be created just using leaves, sticks and other odds and ends in nature. So, Wednesday we headed outside on a nature walk to find interesting art materials to use in our own creations. From fuzzy seed balls to pine needles, sticks and leaves, there was something awesome everywhere we looked!

We also used some science equipment to take a closer looks at natural materials. Magnifiers, scales, and our own eyes and fingers told us lots about corn, wheat, gourds, hay, moss (sterilized), tree ring slices, and seeds.

Friday, we took all out leaves from homework and the nature walk leftovers and sorted by size together. Then at centers, we used the leaves to make crayon rubbings.

Whenever the kids work hard together to build something, they want me to take a picture. So, here is the creation of the week, along with some Mayflower fun:
