Circles, Critters and Centers!

If you come visit our room, you will see some beautiful circle paintings outside our door. We made these by stamping black circles on paper using plastic cups. After the black paint dried, we used several different colors of paint to fill in the circles, working very hard to not cross any of the black lines. This fine motor practice resulted in some great works of art!

We worked on controlling our fingers some more with the cornmeal trays at centers on Monday. We used our fingertip to make letters and shapes on the tray, paving the way for future handwriting practice. We also worked as a group to complete a cut and paste worksheet together. This was good practice for following directions, listening for letter sounds (Mm), and cutting practice. This is also the kind of work we will need to learn how to do on our own for kindergarten, so we're getting started so we will be prepared!

Other centers this week have been group reading with our rebus storybooks, pattern blocks, shape houses, and playing with the people house.

Other Big News

We had another birthday- celebrations are always so much fun with all our friends!

We had a special visitor found by one of our classmates. He was pretty cool!

Our leader each day holds the flag, counts the days on the calendar, and leads our lines. We have a new leader every day, and choosing a name out of the can each morning is one of Ms. Heather's MOST important jobs to get done first thing. :)

And lastly, we have monarch butterflies emerging from their cocoons right outside our windows! Here is a newly emerged one sitting on the windowsill waiting for the wings to dry.
