Wednesday 9/5 - Thursday 9/6

It's  been a couple of very busy days! The children have been working hard learning our new rules and routines, especially how our learning centers will work. They've been practicing cutting, tracing, gluing, painting, listening, as well as playing, making friends and even eating yummy snacks! Take a look at some of the highlights of the past 2 days:

This is a "Morning Message" from Circle Time. We had a leader for the first time today, and he did an excellent job helping us with calendar and leading our lines!

waiting patiently                  adding letters as we read
almost the whole alphabet is up

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom- We did it!

Here are some pics of the kids at centers:

The magnet wall had letter and word making toys. The sensory table had rice and a variety of scoops and containers. Children at this center could make a choice of either activity.

We practiced cutting small squares out of strips of paper as a morning job. Then at a center, we drew lines with the glue bottles and turned all those squares into mosaic pictures.
We used our "grabbers" and tweezers to sort out a big bucket of assorted colored items. This helped us with categorizing and sorting, as well as fine motor development.

We painted our portfolios for keeping all our projects this year. These will come home Monday! Red, yellow, and blue paint was used, and several students noticed new colors appearing as they blended. We also talked about keeping each brush in the right color paint.

A is for ALLIGATOR! These alligators needed some playdough teeth. Some got white teeth, some blue, yellow or red (who's going to get close enough to check what color real alligator teeth are anyway?). After showing Ms. Heather that we used our LISTENING EARS and remembered the directions, as well as our LOOKING EYES to add the teeth to the mouth of the alligator and not all over the page, we had time to explore the different cutters and rollers in the tool box.

For this center we worked on cutting on the lines all the way across the paper. This was pretty tricky for most of the kids, but we kept trying! After making several long strips, we turned them into a big A. Then we turned our paper around and made our A into an alligator.

One of the busiest centers today was over at the blocks. Not only were many big beautiful buildings and towns built, but it was fun to watch friendships find a foundation as well!

After all that hard work, it was time for a yummy Chicka Chicka Boom Boom snack.
We used a wafer cookie, grapes, apple slices and letter crackers to create our own edible letters going up the coconut tree.

Bye!
