Our First Day!

We had a great first day of school today! We started out decorating our name cards with stickers first thing. We'll use these in our pocket chart for Circle Time activities. After a story about friends, a hello song, and a morning message, we started our first try at centers. We'll have 4 groups each day: red, yellow, green and blue. Ms. Heather picked names out of the name can for each color, and everyone wore a necklace to remind them of their color all morning.
One center did measurements and first day pictures with Ms. Horton.

Another center was making our placemats for September. We did palm trees for our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom story, and added sticker letters.

Another group worked with play dough:

Our last center was on the rug. This center let the kids choose between cars and trucks, the dollhouse, or books!

Everyone got to go to each center, then we had a little bit of table cleanup. "Helping Hands" was our special rule we went over today, and we sure had lots of them in our room!

After snack, we did the calendar, some counting and got packed up. We went a little slow at pack up, because Ms. Heather and Ms. Horton showed each student how to get the papers out of the cubby, put them IN the folder, and zip the folder in the backpack. Then we walked in a line to drop off our bookbags at the carpool line, and went to the playground. Everyone was REALLY ready to run around and play after such a busy morning (even though it was a little hot)!

See you tomorrow!
