Thankful for our Friends!

We are so thankful for our friends at WIPP!

Each morning for the past couple of weeks, we've taken a few minutes to cut out our handprints. This is tricky, and our cutting skills are improving by leaps and bounds! We did this until we had each cut out 16 handprints- enough for 16 Thankful for Our Friends turkeys. After finishing the hand cutouts on Wednesday, we finger-painted a turkey body, cut it out, and added features. Friday, we all used one hand from each of our friends to create these cute turkeys.

Practice makes perfect! Check out the improvement between the beginning and end of this project.

Cc is for construction! We are always building in our room.

And also had fun knocking things down with our wrecking balls!

We are learning about how the first Thanksgiving was a celebration of a successful harvest. We did a beautiful job painting lots of fruits and vegetables, cutting them out, and glittering them up for a cornucopia decoration.

We used pumpkin and dried corn from the harvest for our fun too. After practicing for our Thanksgiving program in the church, we were ready to move, chat and wiggle for a while! Hammering the golf tees into pumpkins was a favorite this week, as well as our sensory table with dried corn, tractors and farm animals.

E said"I want to do this all day, Ms. Heather!"

We never forget about learning our letters! In addition to learning about Cc and Tt, we worked on matching the magnetic letters in the turkey to the ones on our mats.

Setting the Turkeys Free!

We loved the book, and the chance to let our imaginations run wild to make the most creative handprint turkeys around! We painted our hands in our favorite colors (we did it ourselves- no teacher help needed here!) and made some prints. After drying, we used all kinds of feathers and beads to make fun little turkeys for our art board. It's the happiest Thanksgiving flock you'll see this season!

Don't forget about the Thanksgiving program on Friday.
I know a bunch of pilgrims ready to sing for you!
