Week of Jan. 6 to 9

We came in Tuesday to a Happy New Year celebration! We picked a party hat, some shiny beads and a loud party horn to ring in the new year. We finished up our mini celebration with some bubble wrap jumping "fireworks". It was so good to see all our friends after the long holiday- we had lots to celebrate!

This week, we talked about winter, polar animals, and focused on the letter Ii.

We made igloo and icicle pictures:

We played with artificial snow and polar animals in our sensory bin:

Thursday, it was very cold out. We kept it cool inside too as we put on mittens and gloves to play with real ice blocks and characters from Frozen.

When we needed to warm up, we worked on making matches with picture cards:

Here we are making some icy art work!

Our igloo has been open all week for curling up with a good book:

We put the alphabet mittens in order as a class at circle time:

We warmed up at snack with cocoa and cookies!

We continued our cold fun on Friday with ice cream activities. We made giant ice cream cones with our name. We also had a taste test with our favorite flavors of ice cream. After tasting each kind, we chose a scoop to represent our favorite and made a class pictograph. Then we talked about math concepts such as most and least, as well as counting. Chocolate was the favorite! Here are a couple of pictures of what we made on Friday. Ms. Heather made sure to bring her camera, but managed to freeze it in the freezer along with the ice cream all morning (it was hiding in the same bag), so no pics of our hard work in progress. :)
